Worship : Music

Overview

Music is an integral part of our worship at Etz Chaim. From the old familiar tunes we remember from childhood to the newest compositions by today’s Jewish songwriters, we rejoice with music here. There are many ways to participate in making music and enjoying music at Etz Chaim.

Our adult choir is led by Greg Zelman, himself a talented pianist. Their music enriches our Shabbat and High Holiday services. Our song leader, Cindy Michelassi, enthusiastically leads us at family services and on many holidays. Our junior choir, for children in grades 3-7, sings at family services during the school year.

Making their debut in 2006, Etz Chaim is home to the Life Tree Ramblers band. This group of talented congregants led by Rabbi Andrea Cosnowsky will provide music at Shabbat services a number of times each year.

Last, but definitely not least, is the Home Groan Orchestra, our very own Purim group. Anyone is welcome to participate in this truly unique musical experience, which is also led by Greg Zelman. Etz Chaim would not be "the Purim capital of the western suburbs" without the Home Groan Orchestra.
