Parent Recommendations

2008 Registration Form

We seek to provide an atmosphere where children can learn about and celebrate their Jewish heritage. We provide a variety of experiences to promote growth in intellectual, social, physical and emotional capacities. We work toward helping a child build a positive self-image so that he/she will enter kindergarten with eagerness and confidence.

PROGRAM

Our program offers many options for the children. The basic program is three mornings a week, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Children have the option of attending a fourth morning (Tuesday) if desired. Each week the children have a Hebrew lesson in which they learn simple Hebrew words and songs. In addition, every other week, the congregation songleader, Cindy Michelassi, comes in and teaches holiday, Shabbat and other Jewish songs. Shabbat is celebrated each Friday morning with candles, challah and grape juice.

We also offer two enrichment days where the children stay until 2:45 PM. Wednesday enrichment is cooking. Each cooking session has a lesson to be learned. Often the children will hear a story and do a project connected to it. Sometimes the cooking projects are holiday related. For every lesson, the children learn some math skills by measuring ingredients and counting, whether it is teaspoons or number of items going into the bowl.

Friday enrichment is art. Here the children learn about various artists and their style of art. Each week there is a project to go along with the lesson. On both enrichment days the children bring their lunch and eat following the morning class session.
